A comprehensive question and answer session ensued, with veteran journalists and the audience posing a range of questions, primarily focusing on the controversy surrounding Elder Peter Babalola’s departure from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Reacting, Hon. Bisi, remarked that Babalola’s suspension was prompted by concrete evidence of his plans to defect to the opposing party, a violation of the party’s ethics. Following his suspension, Babalola tendered his resignation in an attempt to save his face.
The Chairman applauded the outstanding achievements of the government, highlighting notable accomplishments such as Infrastructure development, Poverty alleviation initiatives, Launching of state of the art broadcast equipment at OSBC, Retention and employment of 66 freelance staff at OSBC.
On Ilesa Water project, Hon. Bisi disclosed the government’s proactive efforts to complete the water project, involving consultations with the Ministry of Water and relevant stakeholders.
The Chairman also provided insight into the state of education in Osun, highlighting the appointment of capable leaders like Comrade Temitope Mustapha, TESCOM Chairman and others, and the ongoing recruitment of teachers across all education levels, expected to be completed soon.
He noted that the party in the state is not taking with levity the issue of discipline within the party members. He disclosed that the likes of Chief Shauib Oyedokun left the PDP in protest because the party leadership declined to reabsorb Dotun Babayemi into the party due to his anti-party tendencies.
