The Osun State Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon Sarafadeen Awotunde has described a former PDP member, Dotun Babayemi, as a failed politician with no electoral value.
Awotunde who is the caretaker chairman of Ifelodun Local Government said Babayemi has been expelled from the party and has no moral right to call for a restructuring.
The ALGON chairman was reacting to the formation of a group headed by Babayemi named ‘Atunto Osun’, which is aimed at repositioning Osun State Politically and Economically for the betterment of its people.
Awotunde who spoke in Osogbo on Friday, said there was nothing to reposition in the state, adding that Babayemi is now a leader of a new faction in the APC and only carrying out the bidding of his paymasters.
He said, “Dotun Babayemi has been expelled from the PDP since September 29, 2022. If he wanted to join the PDP again, he would write an application.
“Someone claiming to be a member of the party took the same party to court up to the Supreme Court and you want to tell me that person wholeheartedly belongs to the party. He is not a member of our party.
“Babayemi is the leader of a new faction in the All Progressives Congress called (Atunto). He is calling for restructuring in the state when there is nothing to restructure. He supported the APC during the last election and failed.
“What electoral value does somebody who is a bad loser, who didn’t win the primary and left in anger, try to destroy the party but failed has? He is just a petty noisemaker and a failed politician.
“There is no faction in Osun PDP and any member of the party associating himself with Babayemi who has been expelled from the party would also be sanctioned.”
