As part of efforts in making sure that Osun State remains neat and clean, the Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin, today, Thursday, 16th November, 2023, joined other Environmental officers in Ile-Ife for a public awareness on ‘operation make your environment clean’. Also to mark one year in office of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The commissioner was flanked by the Special Adviser to the Governor on sanitation and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor.
The President, Environmental Health Association of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, Sanitarian Olufemi Ola led other environmental officers to the event.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Adejoorin commended the doggedness and commitment of the environmental officers in the state, noting that their continuous inspection of the environment has really helped in making sure that the state is clean.
He, however, assured the officers that the government of Senator Ademola Adeleke will continue to make it as a priority, their welfare.
He said, “We are here in Ile-Ife today for this awareness, that we must keep our environment clean and neat at all times. As the saying goes,
cleanliness is next to Godliness, hence we must continue to keep our environment clean.
“It’s important that I salute the courage and commitment of our health officers in our various local governments for their zeal and enthusiasm to work. I want to assure you that under this administration, all that are needed to make your work easy, we shall not hesitate to do it.
Hon. Adejoorin also used the occasion to inform the residents of Ile-Ife that very soon the state government will kick-start the monthly environmental sanitation.
“Let me use this opportunity to inform our people that very soon, the state government will commence the monthly environmental sanitation. The healthy living of our people is so important and keen to our amiable Governor. He wants everybody to be healthy and wealthy.”
Speaking on how to convert waste to wealth, Hon. Adejoorin noted that the ministry is already in a partnership with some companies to convert all the wastes to money. “Let me say this, the ministry is already signing a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with some companies to turn our waste to wealth.”
The commissioner joined the environmental officers to clean some areas in Ile-Ife as people were amazed seeing the political head cleaning their environment.
