To improve food security in the state, hundreds of farmers from Osun East Senatorial District received herbicides, pesticides and other farming inputs to boost production in the next farming season
The lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District in the Senate, Francis Fadahunsi, who sponsored the distribution of the farm inputs advised the farmers to make proper use of the farming items given.
According to a statement by the Media Adviser to Fadahunsi,Sam Segun-Progress, he stated this during the distribution of the farm inputs at Ilase, Osun State.
Speaking at the event,a Director from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ,Engr. Sunday Atoyebi charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the agricultural chemicals, noting that “the brands given is one of the best and scarce within the vicinity”
Atoyebi also said the treated storage sacks can Preserve food items for 2years .He therefore encouraged the farmers to be grateful to the Senator for his foresight and proactive tendency.
Fadahunsi used the opportunity to renew his call on Nigerians to return to farm so that “hunger can be defeated in the country”
“It is time to return to the farms, because it is the surest way to defeat the looming hunger”
Beneficiaries were drawn from the 10 local government area and Area Office that constitutes Osun East Senatorial District.
