Gov. Adeleke is poised to address challenges facing water sector in Osun – Aide

Worried by the worsening state of infrastructure within the water sector, governor Ademola Adeleke has embarked on the upgrade of pipeline networks of both Ede and Osogbo water works

Commissioner for water resources, Hon Sunday Oroniyi disclosed this on IMOLE AYO, a sensitization programme promoting the activities of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration on OSBC Radio and Television channels

The weekly simulcast Yoruba programme is put in place by the office of the spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed to showcase the achievements of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration in Osun state

Hon Oroniyi added that, aside the upgrade of the pipeline networks, the water filtration systems for Iwo are also under rehabilitation and repairs to allow water reach present areas of coverage while the same filtration project is ongoing for Eko-ende which services Ikirun, Iragbiji, among other adjoining communities

According to him, once the water filtration systems for both Eko-ende and Iwo water works are completed, the administration plans to issue new approvals for the pipeline networks upgrade for both water schemes.”

He added that, the water scheme in Esa Oke has been rehabilitated for supply of potable water to the ancient town saying that the administration has a holistic programme to address the challenges facing the water sector in the state.

The commissioner for water resources explained that most of the broken old pipes laid over five decades ago are being replaced with modern durable pipes known as HDPE pipes to improve water supply to all the nooks and crannies of the state.

Hon Oroniyi enjoined the customers of the state water corporation to pay their monthly bills promptly for them to continue enjoying uninterrupted water supply across Osun State
