“In respect to Governor Adeleke five point agenda, one of it is to ensure that his people enjoy good, portable water. We are working on one of his five point agendas.

“The last time we were here, the Aree of Iree land was with us, and the community is helping us too with the security of this place.

“The changes I noticed, today there was issue with the dam, it has collapsed and they’ve started working on it, the pumps, the pressure filter and majorly what collapsed is the dam and it has been repaired” she added.

Also present at the inspection, Mr. Biodun Olaitan, General Manager of Small Towns under the Ministry of Water Resources, commended Governor Adeleke for his unwavering commitment to the project.

He, however, confirmed that 85% of the work has been completed, bringing the project closer to delivering potable water to the communities.

“We want to eulogize our able Governor who promised Iree people portable water. The job is still ongoing. Based on our examination and visitation to this place, we believe very soon there will be portable water for everyone within the Iree and Erepa community.

“We have our scheme managers, we have our staff, we have security guards guiding this place, and we have scheme managers, and the only challenge we have is electricity. He said.

Odewale Oluwafemi, Head of Operations at the Small Towns Water Agency, outlined the challenges faced in rehabilitating the scheme.

He revealed that the dam had been eroded by floods over ten years ago, making restoration work difficult. Despite this, major improvements have been made, including installing a new generator and reinforcing the water tank with concrete.

“The community should expect portable water very soon, and they’re expected to do their part, which is to pay revenue to the agency.” He urged
