Health insurance: New OHIS Boss, Akindele Commends Gov. Adeleke For Supporting Health Sector

The new Executive Secretary of Osun Health Insurance Scheme Dr. Rasaq Akindele has commended Gov. Ademola Adeleke for his unwavering support in the health sector which showed a good indication in the state .

He explained that the scheme would continue to reward excellence, good work and commitment to healthcare service providers among other key stakeholders.

The OHIS boss says the scheme is working with its accredited healthcare service providers across the state to help alleviate their challenges for good service delivery to enrollees of the scheme.

Dr Abdulrasaq Akindele, OHIS Executive Secretary who announced this on the sideline of a media parley with newsmen in Osogbo on Tuesday, said secondary delays and challenges faced in most accredited hospitals and other facilities were being identified and addressed.

Akindele said issues related to hospital equipment and drugs with other health care system would be looked into and also ensure accredited facilities offered the best to OHIS enrollees.

He said that the scheme would not relent in its efforts to intensify sensitisation and also increase advocacy on the benefits of providing qualitative health care services in the state.

“The acceptance of OHIS by informal workers has been a major challenge and the need for more awareness becomes paramount for their overall well-being.

“Also, stakeholders have a lot to play in ensuring that enrollees, especially informal workers, get the best health care services,” Akindele said.

According to him, the scheme is still accommodating more informal workers and will advise those who have not enrolled to do so.

Akindele, however, advised healthcare providers to measure and monitor quality of care they offered to enrollees for safe, effective patient, efficient and equitable services.
