How I wish Nigeria leaders can emulate Immanuel College – Rector, Oyeneye

As part of programmes lined up for the end of the session’s thanksgiving and the 63rd graduation ceremony with the conferment of fellowship award on distinguished and personalities, the Almuni of Immanuel College of Theology and Christian Education on Monday, 10th June, 2024, organized a dinner night to celebrate the graduands.

The Almuni President of the College, Rt. Rev. J.M.B Ibikunle congratulated the graduands for their uprightness and dedication as he urged them not to forget all what they’ve been taught during their years in the College.

Rt. Rev. Ibikunle implored them to take all what they’ve learnt seriously and they should be a good ambassador of the college, noting that all of them are automatic members of the Almuni Association.

He also urged the undergraduates to remain focused and not to be distracted by anything, he admonished them to remain prayerful and watchful.

Speaking, the Rector of the college, Ven. Dr. Isaac Oyeneye called on Nigeria leaders to emulate the college on harmonious relationship between a two giant churches.

The rector said Nigeria would have progressed if our leaders can emulate how both the Anglican and Methodist denominations came together to establish Immanuel College of Theology and Christian Education without any acrimony and up till today, the college still waxing stronger.

Ven. Dr. Oyeneye said both Anglican and Methodist are great churches which are well known across the globe, but both denominations agreed to establish a Theology school which churns out hundred of students every year.

The college boss said it’s sad that today, many churches have lost their values and glories all because of their inability to contro their appetites. He said most of our religious leaders are dinning and winning with knonwn fraudsters and looters who are on corridors of power.

He therefore urged politicians to see themselves as partners in progress in the Nigeria project which must do everything humanly possible to move the country forward from the unpalatable situation we find ourselves.

According to the Chairman, Board of Governors, Rt. Rev. Dr. J. Olu Akinola, he encouraged both the graduands and the undergraduates to be more serious about their education, he stated that the only way to make impact in life to be diligent in whatever you do.

He, however, implored the graduands to be ready to give back to their alma mater as this the only way they can be remembered in the nearest future.

The graduands entertained the audience with different types of cultural ministration and dancing. Best graduads in some units were given awards so as to encourage the upcoming ones to more dedicated in their assignments.

Those who were in attendance are: The Rt. Rev’d Dr. Adewale Andrew Adebiyi – Diocesan Bishop of Oke Ogun Anglican, Rt. Rev David F. Adekoya, Rt. Rev. Dr. Cornelius O. Adagbada, Rt. Rev. Dr. J. Olu Akinola – Osogbo, Ife S. Oluperi – Lagos Diocese, Very Rev. Dr. & Dr. Mrs J.O Ayodele, Deputy Rector.
