The newly elected speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun has reiterated his commitment to work his colleagues in making sure that good laws are passed for the betterment and progress of the State.

The speaker, in a media chat with journalists, today, made the disclosure, saying the state cannot afford to lag behind in comity of States in Nigeria.

He said the Assembly under his leadership will do everything possible in making sure that laws which stand to move the state forward are passed.

He said though he is aware that some people have the impression that he is arrogant, he stated that he is not proud, but only choose to be selective in making friends.

He noted, “Though, I’m aware that some people are of the opinion that I am arrogant, this is far from the truth, I am not proud, I’m only selective when it comes to making friends, but now that I am a politician, I will work on that.”

Speaking on his emergence as the 8th assembly speaker, Egbedun said that he has reached out to his opponents and they’ve assured him of their readiness to join hands with him to move the state forward. He said there is no victor nor vanquish. He said all of them are winners.

“As for my colleagues that we contested for the speakership seat together, I have reached out to them and they’ve assured me of their readiness and unalloyed support. We are going to do it together.

“The assembly under my watch, we are going to collaborate with the executive to move the state forward. We have no reason not to deliver on our promises to the good people of Osun who on a daily basis keep praying for the success of this administration. They trusted us with their mandate, we must not let them down. I am going to be accessible to all and I am going to be accountable to the people who put me here to lead them.

He, however, applauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for allowing youths to take up leadership position in the state, noting that this is unprecedented. “I am aware that this is just a privilege and I am not taking it for granted. I appreciate our dear Governor for allowing youths into sensitive positions in his government.

“I want to assure the good people of Osun that by the time we will exiting office, we would have done excellently well that our result would have been the best in Osun, even in Nigeria at large.” the speaker noted.
