Ikoyi indigenes urge Gov. Adeleke to appoint Lanre Odelade as Commissioner

Natives of Ikoyi Kingdom under the aegis of concerned Indigenes have admonishied Governor Ademola Adeleke to consider the appointment of an Indigene and title holder, Chief Olanrewaju Odelade as Commissioner in the impending cabinet.

This is contained in a written address by the leader of the group,Engineer Adesokan Abdulkadr at a Press Conference, called by the Indigenes at Ikoyi Town Hall.

The address read on his behalf by Mr. Samson Olowoporoku drew attention to the deplorable conditions of Orita-Ijebu, Abiri-Total AUD-Oke Olusi roads and called on government to fix the bad roads.

He also highlighted the need for functional health centres, tertiary Institutions and regular power supply in Ikoyi and Environs to raise the living standard of the people.

Engineer Adesokan described Ikoyi indigenes as loyal and committed to the PDP with remarks that the loyalty predated the Adeleke Administration.

According to him, “Ikoyi was in the forefront of support for the Administration of Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola between 2003-2010 by ensuring delivery of votes in the two terms that it held sway.

He added that,“Indigenes and residents of Ikoyi did not waver in supporting the Government and the Peoples Democratic Party, even when Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola was removed via a controversial judicial pronouncement on the 26th of November, 2010”.

The Leader of the concerned Ikoyi Indigenes therefore believes that inclusion of their sons and daughters in government will reciprocate their loyally to the PDP and ensure further electoral victories for the party.

Reiterating the group’s advocacy for Chief Lanre Odelade’s bid for appointment into the State Executive Council, Engineer Adesokan AbdulKadir leveraged on his educational qualifications,career experience and exposure, as well as his contributions to the development of his home town and progress of the People’s Democratic Party before, during and after the July 6th Governorship polls and subsequent Elections that brought the PDP back to power in Osun State.

He commended the impressive start of the Adeleke Administration in road construction and water provision in the 326 wards in the state of which Ikoyi is a beneficiary.

The concerned Ikoyi indigenes pledged to maintain the tempo of self-help activities in the education sector as a compliment to government development policy to raise the living standard of people in the Federal Constituency.

The Press Conference was attended by the Olukoyi in Council led by the Asalu of Ikoyi land,High Chief Akinola who called on political and Community Leaders in the ancient Kingdom to Unite to fastrack development in Ikoyi Land.

Other notable Chiefs who spoke in support of the concerned Ikoyi Indigenes were the Aro of Ikoyi Chief Oladimeji Oladapo and the Iyalode of Ikoyi Chief (Mrs) Ganiyat Opeola who both called on government to create a sense of belonging to Ikoyi by the appointment of Chief Lanre Odelade in Osun state Executive Council.
