Nigeria @63: Celebrating Independence Anniversary, Promoting a Cleaner Environment in Osun – Adejoorin

As we celebrate the 63rd anniversary of Nigeria’s independence in our various homes as directed by His Excellency Governor Ademola Adeleke, it is a time for reflection and appreciation of our rich heritage, diverse culture, and the progress we have made within the short period of taking over from the APC government. It offers opportunity to address important issues that affect our immediate surroundings and our shared future.

First and foremost, I extend my warmest congratulations to all Nigerians, particularly the performing Governor of Osun State and the wonderful people of the state. Our state has played a significant role in Nigeria’s history and development, and its indomitable spirit continues to inspire us all.

However, on this occasion, I would like to draw our attention to a pressing concern that affects the well-being of our state: the issue of debris in our waterways, which contributes to flooding. Flooding was a recurrent problem in many parts of Osun State under the last administration but with your support for the current government, we have been able to mitigate it; recurrent flooding under the last APC led government had caused considerable damage to infrastructure within the State and disrupting lives within the communities, effort is on top gear to make Osun our dream state by Gov. Ademola Adeleke led administration.

We must recognize that a clean and well-maintained environment is essential for the prosperity and sustainability of our state. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that our waterways remain free from debris, allowing for proper water flow and reducing the risk of destructive flooding. By taking proactive measures to prevent debris accumulation in our rivers, streams, and drainage systems, we can significantly mitigate the impact of floods and safeguard our communities.

I would like to urge each and every one of us to embrace the spirit of environmental consciousness. Let us commit ourselves to maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment for ourselves, our children, and future generations. By adopting simple practices such as proper waste disposal, recycling, and avoiding the indiscriminate dumping of debris into our waterways, we can contribute to the realization of a cleaner and safer Osun State.

In this regard, I would like to commend the efforts of our performing governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in prioritizing environmental sustainability and promoting a clean Osun State. His commitment to creating a greener and more livable environment for all of us deserves our full support and cooperation. Let us rally behind his efforts and actively participate in initiatives aimed at preserving our natural resources and protecting our environment.

On this momentous occasion of Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary, let us not only celebrate our nation’s achievements but also renew our commitment to building a brighter future for Osun State. Together, we can make a difference by embracing a culture of cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.

May the celebrations of our independence anniversary inspire us all to work towards a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Osun State.

Happy Independence Day!

Yours sincerely,

Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin
Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation,
Osun State.
