In a significant prelude to the upcoming Ayan Agalu Festival, Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, made a royal visit to Aafin Ilu. The visit marks a crucial step in the preparations for the festival, set to take place in Ile-Ife on July 17th and 18th.
Olori Aderonke, who holds the position of Vice Chairman at The House of Oduduwa Foundation, is well-known for her tireless efforts in promoting Yoruba arts and culture. Her presence at Aafin Ilu was warmly received by the hosts, who described the day as “memorable” and she was welcomed with a series of captivating performances and tour that highlighted the depth of Yoruba artistic traditions.
During her visit, the Queen met with Prince Adewale Laoye, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the Ayan Agalu Festival 2024. Their discussions centered around the planning and preparations for the upcoming cultural celebration.
For Olori Aderonke, the visit held personal significance as well. “It was a pleasure to finally tick Aafin Ilu off my bucket list,” she remarked, adding that she “can’t wait to visit again.”
This royal visit to the art center not only highlights the importance of the Ayan Agalu Festival but also underscores the continued efforts to preserve and promote Yoruba cultural heritage. As the festival date approaches, the Queen’s involvement signals the featival’s significance and the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, Ojaja II’s commitment to cultural celebrations.
