The National President of Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU), Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd.) has commended the former Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amoo (Rtd.) for the gigantic Airforce projects sited in Osogbo in particular, and Osun State in general.
Recall, the Osun State Government on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 organised a State Banquet to honour three (3) Osun illustrious sons, the former Chief of the Air Staff; Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; and Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Ag. Comptroller-General, Customs.
In his address, Justice Adeigbe (Rtd.), on behalf of Kabiyesi, Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Abidemi Oyetunji, Olanipekun, Larooye II, welcomed the honourees to the event.
His words, “Our brother, from Osogboland, the Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amoo (Rtd.) you are formally and particularly congratulated for your successful performance in office as the Chief of Air Staff, and we thank Almighty God for your commendable tenure o office, with your safe landing, and your honour remaining intact.
“I also seize this opportunity to register the appreciation of the people of Osogboland to thank you for the gigantic Airforce projects sited in Osogbo in particular, and Osun State in general, which include, Airforce Research and Development Centre in pee and Osogbo respectively; Nigeria Airforce Institute of Safety, Ipetu-ljesa (which your administration actively supported to completion during your tenure and the Airforce Comprehensive School, Igbara-Oke, near Owena.
“We appreciate you for your thoughtful contributions to the development of our towns and communities with these projects and we pray to God to continue to reward you and bless you, even in your retirement.
“We pray that your retirement shall bring you peace of mind with long life and abundant prosperity to enjoy your post service existence with your family.
In the same vein, Justice Adeigbe (Rtd.) however welcomed Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff into the prestigious office of the Chief of Army Staff. He said they were all happy in the State when they learnt of the appointment.
He further said, “We thank God that you, as one of us in Osun State, particularly llobu has been suitable to occupy the position at this time of our national life. We are proud of this your personal achievement and pray to God to guide and guard you to successful tenure of office.
“We assure you of our support and appreciation for any developmental project you may choose to bring to Osun State, during your time.
To the Ag. Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Retired Justice Adeigbe said “You are particularly welcome to the seat of the head of Nigeria customs. We thank God for making you, as one of us in Osun State to be found suitable for this appointment at this time in our national history.
“We shall continue to pray that you would be found worthy of confirmation in the office as the substantive Comptroller-General of Customs by the grace of God.
“I must thank our Governor, the peoples’ Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, his Deputy, His Excellency, Prince Kola Adewusi, the Chief of Staff, (COS) Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, the Head of Service, Mr. S. A. Aina, the Honourable Commissioners and Special Advisers and other government functionaries. I commend your administration for bringing life back to the State in less than one year of your administration.” He noted.
