The apex community association in Orolu local government, Ifon-Osun Progressive Union (IPU) has congratulated all the nominees for the Post of commissioners in the cabinet of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
In a release signed by its secretary of the Board of Trustees of IPU, Jide Akinyooye said it’s a good development.
The union said though the announcement caught both sons and daughters of Ifon-Osun unaware as none of the Orolu indigenes made the cabinet list. They, however, call on the Governor to do the needful.
Part of the statement reads, “On behalf of the entire people of Orolu Local Government, Ifon-Osun; let me seize this opportunity to congratulate all the nominees for the post of Osun State Commissioners and Special Advisers to the Governor as released through the Osun State House of Assembly.
“Our warmest congratulations goes to Hon. Kolapo Alimi of Irepodun Local Government area. There wouldn’t be need for this piece in view of obvious observation that none of Orolu indigenes made the particular Cabinet list; however, various comments, reactions and expression of disappointment by Orolu people from far and near has warranted the leadership of Ifon-Orolu Progressive Union (IPU) to continuing calming our people and making our position known that Ifon-Orolu Progressive Union, the apex Community association in Orolu Local Government is not disappointed yet until His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke complete nomination of all his political appointments and Orolu indigene(s) is / are not in the Executive Council of Osun State. This is when we would understand the reality.
“We would also seize this medium to remind His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, The Executive Governor of Osun State that Ifon-Osun people may not appreciate any offer that will not position Orolu indigene(s) among his Cabinet in addition to other key political positions. Orolu has many competent, educated and well-qualified politicians and technocrats that can hold any position.
“The frustrations by Orolu people is well understood because majority of Orolu people have been supporting the ruling party over the years while Mr. Governor Ademola Adeleke promised to change the usual sad marginalization experience of our people during his campaign period. It was on record that the people of Orolu Local Government area have given their best BUT current situation appears that things are not in favor of Orolu Kingdom!
The leadership of the Union (IPU) said it has a lot of respect for His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and still optimistic that Orolu indigene will certainly make the list of Cabinet Members of the present administration in whatever capacity. “This is why will continue to appeal to our people to remain calm and hopeful. The Orolu Stakeholders have sent enough representations and messages to the new administration and we have no iota of doubt that the government of the day will not reckon with it.”
“As at today, it is sad to declare that Orolu Local Government area with its administrative headquarters in Ifon-Osun is the most marginalized Local Government area in Osun State. The State Government has not appointed anyone from Ifon-Orolu into the Executive Council since last administration up till now, while Orolu people have been denied of basic infrastructural provisions. This is why Orolu people are anxiously waiting to see how administration of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke will change the story.”
