As part of his effort to make our environment more clean and habitable, yesterday, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation in Osun State, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin met with sanitation officers across the state.
Accompanied by the Special Adviser on Sanitation, Hon. Tunde Balogun and other top management team in the ministry.
Hon. Adejoorin said he conveyed the meeting to create more harmonious working relationship between his ministry and the sanitation officers in their various local government.
He noted that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke will not condone any act of dirtiness, as he charged the sanitation officers to redouble their efforts in making sure that our environment remains clean at all times.
The commissioner said he has a plan to resuscitate the monthly sanitation in the state, he asked the environmental officers to come up with a proposal on how to go about it.
Reacting, Sanitarian Kehinde Ola applauded the commissioner for deeming it fit to call for the meeting, noting that “This is an unprecedented and we want to assure you sir that we shall continue to give our best in making sure that our environment remains clean and safe.”
On dumping site, Sanitarian Ola urged the state government to create more dumping sites so as to accommodate more refuse in the state, he said “The dumping site we have cannot accommodate the refuse any more, we need more sir.” Also, to make their job more effective, Sanitarian Ola appealed to the state government to employ at least fifteen (15) sanitation officers per local government, as this would compliment their efforts in keeping our environment clean.
Hon. Adejoorin thanked the officers for attending the meeting noting that he has noted all their suggestions and will discuss with relevant agencies in no distant time.
