Prince Adewale Laoye dedicates award to Nigerians, says they deserve better livelihood, security, and economic prosperity

On 25th July 2024, Prince Adewale Laoye, CEO of Aafin Ilu, popularly known as the Drummer of Peace, received the Osun State Chapter APDON Award in Osogbo, Osun State, and dedicated the award to Nigerians.

The Association of Professional Drummers of Nigeria (APDON), Osun State Chapter, bestowed upon him an Award of Excellence in the Propagation of Culture, Tourism, and Arts in Nigeria.

Speaking to newsmen, he noted that he dedicated the award to Nigerians because of their struggles with economic and security challenges.

“It’s really hard work to be a Nigerian. People are going through a lot, and we all deserve better. This is why I dedicate this award to all Nigerians and urge the government at all levels to do more in improving the economy and the lives of ordinary Nigerians,” he said.

The organizers praised and appreciated the Yoruba music folk revivalist and one of the sons of the late Timi of Ede, Oba Adetoyese John Laoye, for his steadfastness in promoting arts, heritage, tourism, and culture using the talking drum in a creative and modern way. Prince Laoye was awarded by the National Body of APDON in 2021.

All executives from the National Body of APDON were in attendance at this event.
