The National President, National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Comr. Engr. Adebiyi Adeyeye has warned the Nigerian Police not to be a tool in the hands of the oppressors, noting that the Nigerian workers will not succumb to their threat.
Adeyeye, in a telephone chat with this medium stated that the invitation sent to the National President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero is unwarranted and should be withdrawn with immediate effect.
He said the accusations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime that the police is trying to hang on his neck are utterly baseless and without merit.
“I categorically condemn the allegations which are nothing but a blatant misuse of power and a conspiracy by enemies to silence and intimidate the voice of the masses.
He noted, “We have had the privilege of working under his leadership, and we can confidently attest to his integrity, honesty, and unwavering commitment to the law and our country’s values. He has always conducted himself with the utmost professionalism and transparency, and we have witnessed firsthand in his tireless efforts to promote the greater good.
“These allegations are nothing but a vicious attempt to tarnish his reputation and undermine his outstanding work. I am confident that the justice shall prevail and vindicate him.
These baseless accusations are a desperate attempt to tarnish his reputation and undermine the achievement of the NLC and to silence the union which will be vehemently rejected by well meaning Nigerians.
Engr. Adeyeye said “We will not be distracted or deterred by these malicious tactics, and a thorough investigation shall be made to expose the truth and bring the real perpetrators to justice.
He, however, charged the police to concentrate their energies on how to rescue the country from the insecurity bedeviling Nigeria.
