“Under my watch, our union will be strengthened” – NUEE President, Biyi Adeyeye assures

The newly elected President of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Engr. Adebiyi Opeyemi Adeyeye MNSE, MNIPE, LLB has assured members that under his watch, the union will be strengthened.

Engr. Adeyeye made this disclosure while delivering his acceptance speech shortly after he was elected and inaugurated as the President of the union.

He commended the efforts and doggedness of the past leadership, the Delegates who have patiently stayed through and all the inexorable comrades who pleaded the democratic atmosphere that eventually led to the election.

Part of his speech reads, “This victory is for us all. This responsibility is for us all. We will diligently serve by exuding all potentials for service and maintain the integrity of this noble union.

“The new leadership shall not welcome any form of maltreatment or unfairness done to any of our members in the Distribution particularly.

Prior to the election process, various activities of the Union have been carried out, leading up to the voting. Those activities include chanting of Labour Songs, NAC Meeting, CinC Meeting, NEC Meeting, Business Session of which was attended by corporate Bodies, past Members and Executives of the Union, and Sister Union Leaders from Ghana, Zimbabwe etc. During these sessions, there were reviews of the organization’s activities, and members and delegates were gathered to elect their new leaders.

The Delegates’ Conference is a ritual of the Union, serving as an assembly of all its members. It provides a platform to discuss crucial issues affecting the union. The delegates comprise chairpersons of the chapters, secretaries, and treasurers both in the national and local.

Ultimately, the new leadership of the Union was determined through a democratic process following the Business Session
